History: In 1994, through a gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit and the encouragement of a Pastor at Ridge Point Community Church, the seed that would later germinate and grow the 70x7 Life Recovery organization, was planted. The ministry started with a divorce recovery support group and soon included support for Christians who were in alcohol and drug addiction recovery. Programs and support offered by 70 x 7 continued to grow and many new types of services were added, including providing care, support and recovery for ex-offenders. Thirteen years later, 70 x 7 was incorporated as a Michigan non-profit organization.
Mission: To restore dignity, purpose and hope to a recovering community, one relationship at a time.
Vision: To be an organization of second chances, where paths to a new life lead to a better life.
Approach: Establish accessible and effective systems of basic support so that ex-offenders re-entering their community from prison/jail and persons recovering from addictions will be a strong and vital part of their families and neighborhoods. Those systems include relational support and programs to sustain addiction and drug recovery, employment, life skills coaching, counseling services, transitional housing, and mentoring.
Guiding Principles:
In addition to the organizational mission and vision, the following principles are used to guide the organization in the selection of service, activities and programs, and in the processes used to implement and evaluate the impact of all services, activities and programs.
- 1. We will expectantly seek God’s will and confidently follow His direction in all matters, knowing He is our provider and the source of true recovery.
- 2. We will provide Christians with opportunities to be intentionally involved in the lives of those we serve—sharing their Christian faith and relying the Holy Spirit.
- 3. We will honor and support 70 x 7 Life Recovery volunteers, donors and staff as they give time and resources and receive God’s blessing for all they give.
- 4. We will establish safety guidelines for conduct to protect volunteers, clients and staff, and make every attempt to ensure programs and services are provided in physically and emotionally safe environments.
- 5. We will work in cooperation with traditional sanctioned addiction recovery organizations and with existing community agencies to develop an deliver a system of client services.
- 6. Staff and volunteers will respect (keep confidential) and protect (keep secure) all client information, revealing only what is necessary to ensure adequate services.
- 7. We will intentionally reach out to those in need of recovery with love and respect for who and where they are in their life journey, and will not exclude anyone from services unless their particular needs could be best met by another provider.
